MY
STORY

MY
STORY

MY
STORY

In 2008, I was just a laborer—digging trenches and laying sod for a local landscape contractor.

By 2012, I had landed an internship with Kiewit, building highways and bridges as a Field Engineer.

In 2014, I joined Layton Construction, and that's when everything changed. I discovered something that shifted the entire direction of my career: Great projects don't just need skilled builders. They need great leaders.

I became obsessed with leadership—studying project management, lean construction, behavioral psychology, and every system that could make complex projects run more predictably.

The transformation was remarkable. I rose from entry-level manager to Project Executive faster than most in the industry. My projects began to feel different:

  • $500M+ delivered in healthcare and mixed-use projects

  • Mastered Last Planner®, Target Value Delivery, and lean tools that actually work

  • Built high-trust teams that beat schedules and deliver real value

  • Created predictable outcomes in unpredictable environments

But as my career grew, I realized something bigger: The construction industry doesn't just need better systems. It needs better leaders.

That's why I started writing, speaking, and sharing what I've learned.

That's how this platform began—to help others become the kind of project managers everyone wants on their job.

MY
WORK

Today, I lead healthcare projects across Southern California for Layton Construction, one of the most respected firms in the industry. I’ve worked with some of the top project teams in the country and studied the systems, strategies, and mindsets that consistently drive successful outcomes.

Every week, I write The Influential Project Manager, a newsletter for project leaders who want to lead with confidence. I’ve published 100+ essays, spoken at industry conferences and private leadership groups, and written a best-selling book, No Bullsh*t Project.

If you want to:

  • Build high-performing teams

  • Deliver complex projects with clarity

  • Lead through uncertainty

  • Apply lean principles that actually work in the field

You’ll find tools, insights, and real-world frameworks right here.

LIFE & FAMILY

NATALY, LEON, & ISABELA

I met Nataly in 2018 at a beach club in Santa Monica. I awkwardly asked her to dance, at which point she laughed and walked away. The joke is on her though, because now she’s my wife. We were blessed with our son, Leon, in 2021, and our daughter, Isabela, in 2025. They’ve changed our lives in the best ways imaginable.

FAMILY

I was born in the United States, and raised in Canada. I grew up in a house where hard work, integrity, and respect were non-negotiable. Family means everything to me, and it’s the foundation of how I lead at work and at home.

MY
INTERESTS

COLORADO STATE HOCKEY

I played Division I hockey for Colorado State University from 2010 to 2014, helping lead our team to four ACHA National Championship appearances. I graduated with a degree in Construction Management, but the lessons from the rink still shape how I lead under pressure.

HEALTH & FITNESS

I’ve done CrossFit for over 12 years, and I’m a lifelong student of health and human performance.

Some personal bests:

  • Snatch: 225 lbs

  • Clean: 275 lbs

  • Squat: 405 lbs

  • Mile: 5:45

  • “Murph”: 40:08

  • “Fran”: 2:30

When I’m not leading projects or writing about them, you’ll find me outside—running trails, golfing, surfing, snowboarding, or chasing that next edge.
